Wix Blog Tutorial: How To Use Wix For Blogging

Wondering how to use Wix for blogging? In this Wix blog tutorial, I'll be sharing how you can create a blog on Wix even if you're a beginner.

By the end of this video, you'll know exactly how to add a blog to your Wix website and how to edit your Wix blog design so that you can promote and grow your site with ease. First off, if you don't have a Wix account yet, click on the link in the description box below to create one for free. We'll be covering how to add and edit a blog to an existing Wix website. If you don't know how to create a website in Wix yet, make sure to watch my last video which was on this exact topic. I'll leave the link to it in the description box below.

In your Wix editor, click on 'my blog' from the left-hand side panel, and then under the 'blog manager' tab, click on 'create a post' to access Wix's blog post editor. You can add a title up top that is up to 100 characters, and then use the space underneath that to start writing your blog post in Wix.

As you start writing, Wix will count up top how long it'll take someone to read your blog post, as well as how many characters your blog post has.

To add a new element to your blog post, you can either click on the plus sign on the left that appears on the current line of text that you're on, or on these icons at the bottom to add an image, add a gallery, add a video, add a divider, insert HTML code, add a GIF, add a code snippet or add a file.

You can also make further edits to your Wix blog post by accessing the left-hand side panel. Under 'settings', you can select whether you wish to display a cover image or not, and if so, select what that cover image will be, change the publish date of this blog post, choose the author for this blog post, write a few lines of text to attract readers, set this blog post as a featured post or not, as well as enable commenting or not.

Under 'SEO', you can edit your blog post URL slug, edit your blog post's title on search engines, add a blog post description, as well as preview what you Wix blog post will look like on Google.

Under 'categories', you can add a category to your blog post from an already existing option, or create a new category to add it to.

Under 'tags', you can add tags that describe what your Wix blog post is about.

Under 'sell subscriptions', you can upgrade to a Wix premium plan, and connect this blog post to a subscription plan, to have your readers pay a certain amount to be able to access this blog post content.

Up top, you can click on the blue 'publish' button to publish this Wix blog post right this second, or click on the downward pointing arrow next to it to save this blog post as a draft, schedule this blog post, or access the post settings, which are these options we just went through on the left-hand side panel.

If you click on 'back' up top, you'll be able to view all of your published blog posts, view those that are drafts, that have been scheduled, and that have been placed in the trash. You can also select individual or multiple blog posts and add categories to them, revert them to draft, or move them to the trash.

When you click on the three little dots next to any blog post, you can add it to a subscription plan, duplicate the blog post, revert the blog post to a draft, or move the blog post to the trash.

Up top, under the 'more actions' dropdown, you can access your blog settings and analytics, hire a blog writer, or import WordPress posts. You can also click on 'create new post' to start creating a new blog post in Wix.

If we x out of this pop-up and return to our Wix editor, and click on 'my blog' from the left-hand side panel again, we can click on 'blog pages' to edit what our blog at large and what are individual blog posts look like.

When you click on 'blog', and then on the blog on the page, you can click on 'manage posts' to return to the Wix blog post manager and editor where we were previously, on 'settings' to edit the display options of your blog feed, blog menu, and social sharing, the layout of your blog feed, including page loading, the layout of your category feed, including page loading, the design of your blog menu, posts, and buttons and margins, access support, and add add-ons to your Wix blog, including a custom feed, recent post feed, members page and RSS button.

Under 'stretch', you can make your blog feed full width or not, and under the question mark icon, you can get additional help for your Wix blog.

Now when we click on 'my blog' from the left-hand side panel, 'blog pages', and then on 'post' instead of 'blog', we can do the same thing we did before, but to individual blog posts rather than to the blog at large.

You can click on 'manage posts' to return to the Wix blog post manager and editor where we were previously, on 'settings' to edit the display options of your blog post, blog menu, social sharing, and recent posts and comments, the design of your blog menu, posts, buttons and margins, and tags, including tag label, tag layout, spacing between tags, and text padding, access support, and add add-ons to your Wix blog post, including a custom feed, recent post feed, members page and RSS button.

Under 'stretch', you can make your blog post feed full width or not, and under the question mark icon, you can get additional help for your Wix blog posts.

If you wish to add other add-ons to your Wix blog or to your Wix blog posts, click on 'my blog' from the left-hand side panel, and then on 'add blog elements', and then drag-and-drop a custom feed, post list classic, post list editorial, post list slider, recent posts, category menu, tag cloud, archive, RSS button, or related apps onto your page.

Always remember to click on 'save' and then on 'publish' on the top, right-hand corner to make the changes that you made to your Wix blog and Wix blog posts active.
