Want to increase the speed of your Wix website to improve your visitor's experience and boost your Google ranking? In this Wix tutorial, I'll show you an easy trick to boost your Wix site speed. Hi, I’m Marina, and I share simple tutorials for non-techie entrepreneurs as a non-techie entrepreneur.
To increase your Wix's website speed, log in to your Wix account, hover your mouse over the website you wish to increase the speed of, and then click on 'select site' on hover.
If you don't have a Wix account yet, click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. In your Wix dashboard, hover your mouse over 'analytics & reports' from the left-hand side panel, and then click on 'site speed'.
This is where you can check your site's loading time and learn how to optimize it for all devices, mobile and desktop. You can view what your site speed is, the speed over time, speed benchmarks, entry page speed, as well as Google PageSpeed Insights for mobile and desktop.
To increase the speed of your Wix website, locate this speed up your site section on the top, right-hand side, and follow the prompts that appear. Here's what Wix suggests I do to increase my Wix website's speed:
Text and static images load faster. Try keeping videos and galleries below the fold.
Optimize your image and video loading times by using specific file types.
Using custom fonts? Try not to have more than 3-4, or opt for system fonts instead.
Improve your mobile site: optimize the layout and hide unnecessary elements.
Avoid third party apps & iFrames on your homepage. Place them on secondary pages.
For each of these speed up your site suggestions, you can click on 'tell me more' to access a Wix support page on how to implement it. From here, you can see exactly how to optimize elements on your site, including the homepage design, images, videos, third-party apps and iFrames, fonts and special effects.
Once you have completed these speed up your site suggestions, you can then come back to this site speed page and test it again to see how much your Wix website's speed has increased.
