Mockup Canva: How To Create Mockups In Canva | Free Mockup Website

Wondering how to create mockups in Canva? In this Canva mockup tutorial and Smartmockups tutorial, you'll learn how to make a mockup in Canva using their free mockup website. So let's get right into this Canva tutorial on mockups on Canva using both Canva Smartmockups and Canva mockup free.

First off, if you don’t have a Canva account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. To create a Canva mockup with ease, once you've logged in to your Canva account, click on the search bar right below where it says 'what will you design?', and search for 'mockup'.

Click on 'see all' on the right of where it says 'suggested templates'. Canva will provide you with a number of mockup templates that you can use. If you wish, you can use the filters on the left-hand side of the screen to sort through these Canva mockup templates by category, style, theme and color.

For instance, I'll select 'Instagram post' under the category section and 'minimalist' under the 'style' category. All of the Canva mockup templates that have a crown icon on the bottom, left-hand side are Canva Pro exclusive templates, which you can try out for free by clicking on the link in the description box below.

If you're a Canva free user, you'll have to use the Canva mockup templates that don't have a crown icon. Once you locate a Canva mockup template that you wish to customize, click on it to open it up in the Canva editor.

Just like with any Canva design, you can click on any of the existing elements within this Canva mockup template, such as the background, text, and mockup frames, and then edit them from the options that appear on the white panel up top. For instance, let's click on this circular element on the left, on the color picker from the white panel up top, change its color to my brand's yellow color, and then click on 'change all' at the bottom to edit all elements that have this original beige color to my brand's yellow color.

Since I'm a Canva Pro user, which you can try out for free by clicking on the link in the description box below, I can add my own brand kit with my brand colors to Canva. I’ll leave the link to it in the description box below.

Let's click on the arrow, on the color picker from the white panel up top, and change its color to my brand's dark blue color. Let's click on the title, head over to the white panel up top, change its font to my brand's Raleway font, and change its color to my brand's dark blue color.

Let's also repeat these same steps to edit the subtitle and email text appearance: change their font to my brand's Raleway font, and change their color to my brand's dark blue color. Let's click on the line, click on the color picker from the white panel up top, and change its color to my brand's turquoise color.

Also feel free to change the text itself. Let's change the title to 'check out this free Canva mockup tutorial', the subtitle to 'Watch the video now on YouTube to learn how to easily create and customize a Canva mockup', and the email to my website 'www.yestotech.com'.

This mockup template consists of three mockup frames: a tablet mockup frame, a laptop mockup frame and a phone mockup frame. If you click on each one of these mockup frames, you can then change its colors from the options that appear on the white panel up top.

You can also click on any of them, and then press on delete on your keyboard to remove them from your Canva mockup design. To add a new mockup frame, click on 'elements' from the left-hand side panel, scroll down until you reach the 'frames' section, and then click on 'see all' next to it.

Select a mockup frame of your choice, such as a tablet mockup frame, and click on it to add it to your Canva design. Resize and reposition it so that the element proportions make sense: usually the laptop is larger than the tablet which in turn is larger than the phone. While we're at it, let's also add a book mockup frame, and resize and reposition it.

You can now customize those Canva mockups by adding photos or videos within them. To add one of Canva's photos to your Canva mockup, click on 'photos' from the left-hand side panel, and drag-and-drop one of Canva's stock photos into a mockup frame.

To add one of your own photos to your Canva mockup, click on 'uploads' from the left-hand side panel to locate an image you've already uploaded to Canva to add to your mockup frame, or click on 'upload media' up top, to locate and open a new image to add to your Canva mockup frame.

To add one of your own videos to your Canva mockup, click on 'uploads' from the left-hand side panel, select 'videos' up top, and then locate a video you've already uploaded to Canva to add to your mockup frame, or click on 'upload media' up top, to locate and open a new video to add to your Canva mockup frame.

To add one of Canva's videos to your Canva mockup, click on 'videos' from the left-hand side panel, and drag-and-drop one of Canva's stock videos into a mockup frame. Once you've added your photos and videos to all the Canva mockup frames, if you wish to edit their position, click on them, and then on 'crop' from the white panel up top. Reposition the image, and then click on 'done'.

I'm going to click on 'add page' on the top, right-hand side to show you another way that you can create mockups in Canva, this time using a stock photo as a starting point. To do so, click on 'photos' from the left-hand side panel, and click on the search bar up top, and search for 'mockup'.

Once you've located a mockup photo that you enjoy, drag-and-drop it onto your design. Since this white background isn't a mockup frame, we can do a workaround to add our own photos or videos within it.

Click on 'elements' from the left-hand side panel, scroll down until you reach this 'grids' section, and then click on the first square grid to add it to your design. Resize and reposition it so that the grid covers the laptop's screen within the Canva mockup template.

Now follow the same steps as before to add either a photo or video within this frame. I'm going to click on 'add page' on the top, right-hand side to show you yet another way that you can create mockups in Canva, this time using Smartmockups.

Click on 'photos' from the left-hand side panel, and select any photo of your choice that you want to add within a Canva mockup. Once you've added the photo to your Canva design, click on 'edit image' from the white panel up top.

Locate the Smartmockups feature. If it's not appearing up top like it is on my Canva account, you can either use the search bar to search for Smartmockups, or scroll down the 'edit image' popup until you locate it.

Let's click on Smartmockups to view all of the mockup types that we can transform this image into. These include popular Smartmockups, smartphones Smartmockups, computers Smartmockups, cards Smartmockups, frames and posters Smartmockups, books Smartmockups, clothing Smartmockups and mugs Smartmockups.

Click on one the Smartmockups designs, such as on enamel mug 1, to transform your image into a mockup. Once you're done adding elements to your mockup frames, you can either leave the mockup designs as they are, or add any additional elements of your choice to the mockup designs from the options on the left-hand side panel.

When you've finished creating your Canva mockup, rename your Canva design up top, such as to 'how to create mockups in Canva', and then click on 'download'.

Under the file type dropdown, select either PNG high quality image or JPG small file size image if you solely added photos to your Canva mockup, or select MP4 video if you included video files on your Canva mockup. From the pages dropdown, select the Canva design pages you wish to save, in our case, the first page is the Canva mockup with frames, the second page is the Canva mockup from a stock photo and the third page is the Canva mockup with Smartmockups.

I'll select all pages, and then click on 'done. Once you've finished setting all the download settings, click on the 'download' button at the bottom to save your finished Canva mockup design to your computer.
