Wondering how to run a successful giveaway on Instagram? In this Instagram giveaway tutorial, I'll be sharing how to run a giveaway contest on Instagram.
By the end of this video, you'll know exactly how to set up an Instagram giveaway and how to host a successful Instagram giveaway so that you get more Instagram followers with ease. The first thing you'll need in order to run a successful giveaway on Instagram is brainstorm what you plan on giving away. Rather than giving away something everyone wants, such as an iPhone or a computer, plan on giving something that just your target audience will want.
This ensures that you only attract new Instagram followers that'll actually want to follow your Instagram page once the giveaway is over, rather than a bunch of random people. You can give away your own products or services, access to tools that you use in your business, or even a bundle with a number of products, services, and tools from those in your niche.
Once you've set what you plan on giving away in your Instagram giveaway, you can start setting it up, by first creating an official giveaway photo. Only those who follow the giveaway rules described under this photo will be eligible to win the Instagram giveaway.
You can create this official giveaway photo using Canva. If you don't have a Canva account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to try it for free.
After you've logged in to your Canva account, click on the search bar, and search for 'Instagram post'. Once that option populates, click on it.
If you scroll down this page, you'll see a number of Instagram post templates that you can customize for your official giveaway photo, or if you prefer, you can select a blank Instagram post template to start from scratch. Don't worry too much which Instagram post template you choose since you can always change it later.
Once you've selected an Instagram post design in Canva to customize and make your official giveaway photo, click on it to edit it. As I mentioned, if for some reason you wish to change this Instagram post template to another one, you can click on 'templates' from the left-hand side panel to start fresh with another Instagram post design.
Just like with any regular Canva template, you can click on any elements on the page to customize them, such as the background, text and photo, or click on any of the options from the left-hand side panel to add new photos, elements and text into your Instagram post design.
For more details on how to customize a Canva design, make sure to watch my video on 'how to use Canva'. I'll leave the link to it in the description box below. You can even change this Instagram post entirely to fit your own brand by adding your own colors and fonts to it.
Once you're done customizing your Instagram post, rename your Canva design up top. You can either download your official Instagram photo on your computer, and transfer that to your phone, or download the Canva app on your phone, and directly save your official giveaway photo to your phone's photo gallery.
After you've created your official giveaway photo for your Instagram giveaway, it's time to set the Instagram giveaway rules. This usually involves asking those who want to enter the giveaway to like and comment on the official Instagram photo, as well as follow your Instagram page.
In order to make your Instagram giveaway go viral, you may also ask those who wish to enter the Instagram giveaway to tag a specific number of friends, usually around 3, in their Instagram comment. This will get your Instagram giveaway in front of as many eyes as possible.
Depending on what you plan on giving away, you can also stipulate certain constraints from those who enter the giveaway. For instance, if you plan on shipping something to the Instagram giveaway winner, you can only allow participants who are located in your country or are of a certain age.
Also remember to stipulate a time limit up until when you plan on accepting Instagram giveaway entries, as well as set a specific date when you'll be choosing a winner for the Instagram giveaway. It's also good practice to mention who the giveaway winner is in the official giveaway photo's description after the giveaway is over. If you wish to use your Instagram giveaway to grow your email list and other social media platforms, as well as your Instagram followers, you can direct those who plan on entering your giveaway to your Instagram profile link. You can then use a tool such as Interact Quiz Maker, which you can try out for free by clicking on the link in the description box below, to create a giveaway landing page.
After you've logged in to your Interact Quiz Maker account, click on 'giveaways' from the menu up top, and then on the 'create new giveaway' button. Add a title, image, and description to your giveaway, and then either click on 'add form fields' at the bottom, or on set up opt-in form from the left-hand side panel.
This is where you can select the kind of personal information you want to gather from your Instagram giveaway entrants, including email address, first name, last name, company name, phone number and zip code. You can also edit additional settings for your opt-in form, including enable checkbox to confirm subscription to email list and require confirm subscription checkbox consent in order to enter giveaway for GDPR compliance.
Click on 'save and continue' to connect your email marketing program to automatically send lead data from your Instagram giveaway entrants to your existing accounts.
After you've set up the Instagram giveaway landing cover page and lead generation settings, you can click on 'success page' from the left-hand side panel to edit the title, image and description of the success page that appears after someone enters the Instagram giveaway.
To customize the way your Instagram giveaway is shared across all social media platforms, click on 'social share settings' from the left-hand side panel. Add a social share link, where links will point when people share your giveaway, a social share image, which is the image used when sharing the giveaway on social media, and social share text, which is the text used when sharing the giveaway on social media.
If you wish to customize the settings of your Instagram giveaway to support your needs and to grow your following on other social media platforms, click on 'giveaway settings' from the left-hand side panel. Determine when your giveaway entrants will be able to enter your giveaway, by setting a giveaway start date and end date, upload your Instagram giveaway terms and conditions, and reward your giveaway entrants with additional entries for completing additional social media actions on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest. Make sure that you connect your social accounts in order to validate these social entry methods.
Always remember to save any changes you make along the way. Once you've finished creating your Instagram giveaway landing page, click on 'embed' up top. Copy the live link to your giveaway and add it to your Instagram profile link.
To do so, on your Instagram profile page, click on 'edit profile', and where it says 'website', paste the giveaway live link, and then click on 'done'. Remember to mention in the description below the official Instagram photo that those who wish to enter the Instagram giveaway need to click on your Instagram profile link and follow the steps provided there, either in addition to liking and commenting on the official giveaway photo, and following your Instagram page, or instead of completing those actions.
