In this video, I'm going to show you how to add Google AdSense to your Wix website in order to earn money from your site. With Google AdSense ads, you first need to have upgraded your Wix account to a premium account and connected your domain.
To add Google AdSense to Wix, first log into your Wix website and access the site's dashboard. Then, click on Google AdSense from the left-hand side panel. Click on "Get Started" and follow the prompts.
Step one is to connect your Google AdSense account. You need to sign into your Google AdSense account or create a new one if you don't have one. Let's go ahead and click on "Connect Account." A pop-up will appear asking you to choose an account to continue to Wix AdSense. I'll go ahead and click on the appropriate Google account and then select what Wix AdSense can access. This includes viewing and managing your AdSense data. I'll go ahead and click on "Select All" and then on "Continue" at the bottom.
Another pop-up will appear asking you to confirm the accounts you want to connect to AdSense. Go ahead and click on "Confirm Account." If everything worked properly, another pop-up will appear stating that you're connected to AdSense. Let's go ahead and close that pop-up.
Under step two, you'll see that your site is ready to display ads. Everything has been approved, so now you can start creating ad units and place them on your site.
Under step three, you can create a new ad unit, customize your ads' appearance, and choose which type fits your site. Let's go ahead and click on "Create Ad Unit." The first step is to give your ad unit a descriptive name to help you find it later. Let's name this ad unit "Wix Google AdSense Ad Unit 1."
Now, select what ad unit you want to display on your site. This can either be a responsive ad unit, which is recommended as it automatically adapts to fit the page layouts on your site, or a fixed ad unit, which is defined by the sizes you choose and doesn't respond to changes in screen size or orientation. I'm going to select a responsive ad unit and see an ad example preview below.
Now, let's click on "Save" at the bottom. A pop-up will appear saying, "Great, you've created Wix Google AdSense Ad Unit 1." Next, connect your ad unit to the AdSense app in the editor. Ads will only show on your site once you do this action and publish. So, let's go ahead and click on "Go to Editor" to do just that.
Locate where you want to add your Google AdSense ad. I'm going to click this plus button over here to add a strip where we can add the Google AdSense ad to Wix and make it fit appropriately. In order to add a Google AdSense ad to this section, click on "Add Apps" from the left-hand side panel and then search for Google AdSense.
Once that option populates, click on it. I'll go ahead and click on "Add" again. As you can see, it says that no ad unit is connected. In order to connect to a Google AdSense ad unit, click on "Settings" and then on "Connect Ad Unit." As you can see, the Google ad unit we just created using the Wix Google Ads integration will appear here at the top. Let's go ahead and select that one. Now, it says the "Wix Google AdSense Ad Unit 1" is connected.
Let's resize the strip and this Google ad so that it fits appropriately. Remember, in order to integrate your Google AdSense ad to Wix, you need to click on "Publish" on the top right-hand side.
Now, let's go ahead and click on "View Site" to preview this Google AdSense ad in action. As you can see, this is the responsive Google AdSense ad we just added to our Wix website.
