Today we’re going to talk about how to make money on the internet by discussing the 5 best ways to make money and passive income online. Making money online is definitely possible, even if you have just a few basic skills. Although it takes time and commitment to create a digital product, once the systems have been put in place, you’ll be set to make passive income day in and day out.

Alright, so let’s get right into how to make money on the internet.
1. Affiliate Marketing
If you don’t have a product of our own to sell, but still want to make money online, affiliate marketing is the way to go. There are a number of affiliate marketing programs for you to choose from, all applicable to the specific niche you’re in. In fact, make sure to subscribe and ring the bell to be notified when I post next week’s video on the 8 best affiliate programs for bloggers to make money.
The secret to succeed at affiliate marketing is to treat your affiliate promotions as if they were a promotion of your own product or service. When promoting your online course, for instance, you wouldn’t just post one blog post about it, and then expect your audience to purchase your online course.
Instead, you’d create multiple blog posts, video tutorials, social media posts, and email broadcasts to get the word out as much as possible. Do the same for your affiliate marketing promotions, and you’ll be making money online in no time.
Time commitment: About 1-5 hours.
Equipment needed: membership into an affiliate program, and your own platforms (email, blog, and/or social media).
Setup cost: Around $10-12/month for a website creation platform, like Wix, Squarespace or WordPress.
2. Workbook or Printables
Workbooks, printables, and other items that can be easily downloadable are a great source for you to make money online. These types of digital downloads can range from a one page PDF, to PDFs with multiple pages, that your clients can print or fill out online.
The best part about creating workbooks, printables or other downloadable digital products is that they can be something that you’re already using in your own life, or selling in another way. You can design the PDF using a simple design tool like Canva or Visme (make sure to click on the link in the description box below or in the cards above to watch my video on How To Create A Pdf Using Canva), make that PDF fillable by using a tool like PDF Escape (also click on the link in the description box below or in the cards above to watch my video on How To Create Fillable PDF Forms For Free Online With PDF Escape), and lastly sell your PDF using a checkout cart software like Samcart or Teachable. Since I already use Teachable for my online courses, I use that to sell my PDFs and other digital products as well, to reduce my online business costs.
Time commitment: About 1-10 hours.
Equipment needed: A graphic design tool (like Canva or Visme), a PDF editor (like PDF Escape), and a checkout cart software (like Samcart or Teachable).
3. Templates
Creating and selling a template is great way to make money online, because it can encompass a number of things. No matter if you’re a visually creative person, or a great writer, you can sell templates related to your expertise to make money online.
If you’re a visually creative person, you can create a design or graphic template (like a Pinterest graphic template, a slide deck template, or a stock photo template), and sell those for $5 a piece up to $100 for a bundle. Those who aren’t design-savvy are always in search of visually-appealing templates that’ll help them stand out online, without much work on their part.
If you’re a great writer, you can create a content or copy template (like an email template, a blog post template, or a guest post proposal template). 4. Tech Training Tutorials
If you’re tech savvy, creating a tech training tutorial is a great way to make money online. Just think about the tech software that you use day to day in your online business, like in my case ConvertKit, Wix, Canva, Viraltag, Leadpages, Interact Quiz Maker, and create step-by-step, easy-to-follow video screenshare tutorials guiding someone who isn't tech-savvy on how to use it.
Although the tech software company you use may have a YouTube channel, or may even offer a knowledge base with videos on how to use their software, your tech training is still essential since it offers specific ways on how to use that software to achieve a particular result. For instance, in my Webinar Email Sequence Template that I previously mentioned, I offer a tech training tutorial on ConvertKit, explaining how to remove a subscriber from a webinar sales sequence. I also offer these ConvertKit Tech Training Tutorials as a stand-alone product.
To create tech training tutorials, you can use a screen capture software like Quicktime to record your screen, an editing tool like iMovie to edit your tech training, and an online course software like Teachable to sell your training.
Time commitment: About 5-20 hours.
Equipment needed: A screen capture software (like Quicktime), a movie editing tool (like iMovie), and an online course platform (like Teachable).
Setup cost: Around $39/month for Teachable.
5. Online Courses
Although the time commitment involved in creating an online course is much longer compared to the counterparts we previously discussed, your chances of making more money online are also greater. Whereas you’ll probably be selling the other items we talked about for up to $300, an online course can be sold for $1000+.
An online course is all-encompassing, and should include multiple pieces of content, like written content, video tutorials, digital downloads, and tech trainings. With an online course, your aim should be to make your target audience’s life easier or to help them achieve their goals faster.
The best part is that you don’t need to create a massive online course to get stellar results. Sometimes, an online course that is shorter and more specific (for instance, Pinterest marketing vs social media marketing at large), is what will get you the best results.
There are numerous pieces of equipment involved in creating and selling an online course. You need a presentation software like Canva, Visme, PowerPoint, or Keynote, a screen capture software like Quicktime, a movie editing tool like iMovie, a graphic design tool like Canva or Visme, an email marketing platform like ConvertKit, and an online course software like Teachable.
Time commitment: Around 30 days.
Equipment needed: A presentation software (like Canva, Visme, PowerPoint, or Keynote), a screen capture software (like Quicktime), a movie editing tool (like iMovie), a graphic design tool (like Canva or Visme), an email marketing platform (like ConvertKit), and an online course software (like Teachable).
Setup cost: Around $29/month for ConvertKit (up to 1000 subscribers), and $39/month for Teachable.
