Want to get started with using snippets in ConvertKit to make the broadcast creation process faster and easier? That's exactly what you'll learn in this ConvertKit tutorial. Hi, I’m Marina, and I share simple tutorials for non-techie entrepreneurs as a non-techie entrepreneur.
To use ConvertKit snippets, log in to your ConvertKit account, click on 'send' from the panel up top, and then on Snippets. With ConvertKit snippets, you're able to supercharge broadcast and sequence emails with reusable blocks of content.
Store any common ‘blurbs’ as content snippets for easy access and editing. You can add common personalizations, buttons, lists, quotes, and more. You can even build snippets of snippets!
Dynamically add a call to action, encourage subscribers to follow you on social media, or promote your most recent blog post. With content snippets, the possibilities are truly unlimited!
To get started with using snippets in ConvertKit, click on 'new snippet' on the top, right-hand side. If you don't have a ConvertKit account yet, click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free.
To create a new ConvertKit snippet all you have to do is give your snippet an internal name in this 'title' section, and then add your content in the space provided. Just like within the ConvertKit broadcast editor, you can click on the plus icon that appears on the left to insert an image, file, button, divider, HTML block, personalization, snippet, heading 2, heading 3, numbered list, unordered list or blockquote.
For example, I'm going to title this ConvertKit snippet 'Tools & Services I Use:', and within the content section, paste all the tools and services I use in my online business. As you can see, there is an unordered list, links to other websites, and you can even change the appearance, size, alignment, and color of your text.
Once you're done creating your ConvertKit snippet, click on 'save'. To use this ConvertKit snippet in a ConvertKit broadcast, for instance, click on 'send' from the panel up top, on 'broadcasts', and then on 'new broadcast'.
You can only add ConvertKit snippets in ConvertKit's new editor, so if you're using the legacy editor, make sure to click on 'try our new editor'. To add a ConvertKit snippet to this email, click on the plus icon that appears on the left, select 'snippet', locate the ConvertKit snippet you just created, in my case, tools & services I use, and then click on 'add to email'.
As you can see, in the editor, your ConvertKit snippet will be added as a tag in curly braces rather than as the actual content of the snippet.
If you click on 'preview' to preview your email in your browser, or even if you click on 'send text email', you’ll be able to see your ConvertKit snippet in all its glory! The great thing about ConvertKit snippets is that any edits that you make to the content snippet itself will automatically be reflected wherever that snippet has been used in your emails.
If I add a new tool or service to this list within the ConvertKit snippet editor, delete one of them, or change a link, in all unsent broadcasts or sequences that I have this ConvertKit snippet, the content will be automatically changed. Unfortunately an email can't be modified once it's already in a subscriber’s inbox.
All that's left to do is add any other content that you wish to this ConvertKit broadcast, and then send it to your subscribers.
