Leadpages tutorial: how to create a landing page in Leadpages. In this Leadpages tutorial and Leadpages review, we’ll go over a landing template so you’ll learn how to use Leadpages to to make a landing page. You’ll discover how to create a landing page with Leadpages and how to build landing pages using Leadpages.
In this video, I’m going to show you how to create a landing page with Leadpages. The main advantage of using Leadpages to create landing pages is that it has these countdown timers that automatically start when someone lands on your page, and can be redirected to another page of your choice once the timer hits zero. This is great when you want to create a sense of urgency, and want your target audience to take action right then and there (such as to sign up for a webinar).
To create a landing page in Leadpages, login to your account, and click on the blue button on the top, right-hand corner that says ‘create new leadpage’. You’ll see that three options popup: generate leads, make sales, and something else. Click on ‘generate leads’. Now a number of new options will appear: free guide, free consultation, newsletter or email course, discount or coupon offer, webinar or event, and contest entry or giveaway. Select the option that most resembles the opt-in incentive. I’ll go ahead and click on ‘free guide’.
Go ahead and click on one of the available templates to customize. I’m going to choose this first one on the left. Name your page so that it reflects what your opt-in incentive is about, and then click on continue. Now you can customize all of the elements on the page. From the left hand-side panel you can edit the page layout, add widgets, define your page style and add page tracking. Let’s go over each one.
Page layout. This is where you can add different sections to your page by clicking ‘add a section’ at the bottom, or customize an existing section. You can delete it, duplicate it, and make it visible or invisible. When you click on the downward pointing arrow next to a particular section, you can edit the overall section style by clicking on this gear button, and edit the section’s background, padding, minimum height, arrow border, timing control, and device specific display, as well as the individual settings for each each column or row, by clicking on the downward arrow next to that, and on its individual gear button.
Widgets. This is where you’ll go to add a new element to your page. This element can be a headline, text, an image, a video, a button, a form, a line, a space, a countdown, a progress bar, an icon, a combined image with text, social share, social like, html, date, checkout, Calendly embed and Open Table embed. To add any of these elements to your page, all you have to do is click and hold, and then drag and drop it to your desired location. You can also place your cursor above any existing element on the page to edit it from its individual toolbar. For instance, you can edit a particular piece of text appearance, duplicate it, drag it to another part of the page, and delete it.
Page styles. This is where you’ll go to define the overall style of your page, such as font styles, page background, page width, favicon, and custom CSS.
Page tracking. This is where you’ll go to add custom SEO to your page, define what your page will look like when shared across social media, and where you can add tracking codes such as Google Analytics.
Once you’ve edited your page elements to look the way you wish, it’s time to integrate Leadpages with your email marketing software so that you can capture your leads. If you click on this ‘get the guide’ button, and then on the link option, you’ll notice that it connects to a popup form. Go ahead and click on ‘edit’. From here you can customize your popup form by adding any widget of your choice, such as a progress bar.
To connect this email form to your email marketing provider, click on it, and follow the steps that appear on the left-hand side of the screen. If you don’t have an email provider yet, such as ConvertKit or MailChimp, just leave this lead notifications option. With this, you’ll receive an email yourself each time someone signs up. To add a new integration, click on ‘add an integration’, select your email marketing platform from the available options, and then select the form that you created which has your opt-in incentive. Once you’re done, click on ‘next - fields’.
This is where you can choose the information you want your visitors to fill out. I always add name and email. As you can see, email is already there. To customize its individual settings, click on the downward pointing arrow next to it, and edit its label, placeholder text, default value, URL mapping, custom validation message, and toggle whether this is a hidden field or not. Once you’ve finished making edits, click on ‘done’. To add a name field, click on ‘add a field’, and select first name. Again, you can edit its individual settings, and once you’re done doing that, click on ‘done’. If you wish the name field to appear above the email field, click on the upward pointing arrow on the left-hand side next to first name. To change the font, size and color of the labels, click inside the fillable form, and edit what you wish from the individual toolbar that appears. Once you’re done, click on ‘next- actions’.
This is where you’ll define what will happen after someone signs up. You can send them to a default Leadpages thank you page, to another leadpage, to an external URL, or have your visitors remain on the page. If you don’t have an email marketing provider that sends your opt-in incentives automatically after someone signs up, this is where you can have Leadpages send them the opt-in incentive for you. Once you’re done, click on ‘save & close’.
And that’s it! Now you know how to create a landing page with Leadpages. Just remember to click on publish on the top, right-hand corner to make your page, or any future updates, active.
