This is the 3rd and last post in the three part weekly series on ‘how to set up a high-converting landing page’. Click the links below to check out the other blog posts and step-by-step video tutorials in this series.

This is the home stretch. I’ve revealed how you can create a freebie with Canva with ease, and how to create a form in ConvertKit to deliver that freebie. We will now head over to our Wix account, to set up a high-converting landing page, that will undoubtedly explode your e-mail list. Get ready to transform your site’s visitors into subscribers into sales.

How To Set Up a High-Converting Landing Page in Wix

I use Wix to set up landing pages for all of the worksheets, guides, checklists, tables, and cheat sheets I create. I then compile all of them into a resources page, to make them easy to find whenever someone visits my website. Our focus today will be on creating one of these high-converting landing pages for your freebie.

  1. Login to your Wix account, click on ‘Manage Site’, and ‘Edit Site’.

  2. From the ‘Pages Menu’, click on ‘+ Add Page’, and select ‘Page’.

  3. Name your new page as the title of your freebie, and click ‘Done’.

  4. Select the three dots next to your pages title.

  5. From the ‘Page Info’ tab, toggle the ‘Hide from menu’ option to on.

  6. In the ‘Layouts’ tab, select ‘No Header & Footer’.

  7. You can leave the ‘Permissions’ tab to ‘No restrictions’.

  8. Go to the ‘SEO (Google)’ tab, and customize the page’s title, description, URL and keywords. Click on ‘Done’ once you have finished making edits.

  9. I like working with three strips for my landing pages. To add the first strip, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, scroll down to ‘Strip’, and drag-and-drop the ‘Classic (White)’ option to the top of your page.

  10. Click on ‘Change Strip Background’, click on ‘Image’ to choose one from your image library, or choose one of Wix’s selected backgrounds. I will be choosing one from my image library.

  11. The second strip I add is a plain, white one. To do so, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, scroll down to ‘Strip’, and drag-and-drop the ‘Classic (White)’ option so that it is right below the image background strip you just added.

  12. For the third and last strip, I add one from Wix’s selected backgrounds. All you have to do is follow the same process as before to add a strip, click on ‘Change Strip Background’, and select the image of your choosing. I like the ‘Marble Surface’ one.

  13. Since it is a bit overpowering, I like changing the opacity of it. Just click on ‘Settings’ from the same ‘Change Strip Background’ menu, and reduce the opacity to around 30%.

  14. Now that the background design is ready, it’s time to add the content. In the top strip, I add an emotion- and result-driven question in a colored, italicized font, as well as a call to action to download the freebie in all caps, with the word free in bold.

  15. To add the text, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, select ‘Text’, click on one of the options, and customize it to blend in with your branding.

  16. In the middle strip, I add an arrow to draw the visitor’s eyes down to the opt-in form, a secondary call to action, and the opt-in form itself.

  17. To add the arrow, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, select ‘Shape’, choose an arrow of your liking, click on it to add it to the page, and change its design to fit in with your brand from its individual toolbar.

  18. To add the secondary call to action, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, select ‘Text’, click on one of the options, and customize the font, size and color to your pleasing.

  19. To add your opt-in form, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, go all of the way down and click on ‘More’, and drag-and-drop the ‘HTML code’ onto your page. A grey box will appear. Click on ‘Enter Code’ and paste the code from the ConvertKit form you created. Click on ‘Update’. You will see that the form you created will appear. Resize the HTML box so that the form fits well, and no arrows appear.

  20. In the bottom strip, we will add a social share option that is composed of a question, a social share call to action, and a button.

  21. To add both the question and social share call to action, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, select ‘Text’, click on one of the options, and customize it so that it says something along the lines of ‘Liked this worksheet? Click the button below to share it!’.

  22. To add the button, click on ‘+ Add’ from the left-hand side menu, select ‘Button’, and drag-and-drop one of the options onto the page. You can customize the button’s appearance and text from its individual toolbar.

  23. To link this particular landing page to the button, and add a social share option, you first need to publish the page by clicking on ‘Publish’ on the top, right-hand corner. On the 'Pages Menu', find your page, click on the three dots next to the page title, click on ‘Page SEO’, and on ‘Go to URL’. This will open the page in a new tab. Copy your page’s URL.

  24. In a new tab, go to http://sharelinkgenerator.com/, and where it says ‘Facebook’, paste your landing page’s URL, and press ‘Create the Link!”. Copy the URL of where it says URL only.

  25. Now back in the Wix Editor, go to your button, click on ‘Change Text’, and then ‘Add a link…’. Click on ‘Web Address’, and paste the link that you just copied from Share Link Generator.

  26. Now click on ‘Save’ and ‘Publish’ in the top, right-hand side corner.
