Wondering how to create a coming soon landing page in Wix? In this coming soon page tutorial, you’ll learn how to make an under construction page on Wix while you build your Wix website behind-the-scenes.
By the end of this video, you’ll know exactly how to create a landing page in Wix specific for a website that is coming soon and how to place your Wix website in under construction mode. First off, if you don't have a Wix account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. There are two ways that you can create a Wix coming soon landing page: you can create a stand-alone coming soon landing page using one of Wix's coming soon templates or you can create a coming soon page as a page on your website.
Since you're unable to change your website's template in Wix after you've selected one to design your website, I'd recommend choosing a Wix website template that you enjoy for your website at large, and then create a coming soon landing page as a new page on that website template.

To create a coming soon or under construction page in Wix, log in to your Wix account, and click on the pencil icon above the website you want to add a coming soon landing page to access your Wix editor. In the Wix editor, click on the pages dropdown menu on the top, left-hand side and then on 'manage pages' at the bottom.
Click on '+ add page' and either select one of Wix's page templates, or click on the '+ blank page' button on the very top, left-hand side, which is what I'm going to do. Name the page you just created, such as 'under construction page' and then click on 'done'.
Since we want only this coming soon landing page to be apparent when someone visits your website, even if you're building your actual website using this same Wix template behind-the-scenes, we need to make three edits for that to be possible.
As such, click on the three three little dots next to the under construction page you just created, and then on 'settings'. Under the 'page info' tab, remove this coming soon landing page from the menu, since you'll only need a menu on your actual website to link to all of your website pages, and not on this coming soon page.
Also click on 'set' next to where it says 'make this your homepage'. This way, anyone who visits your website's URL will land on this coming soon page, and be unable to access any of the other pages on your actual website since they're currently under construction, and we haven't added any links to them on this coming soon landing page.
Now click on the 'layouts' tab, and switch the layout from 'standard' to 'no header or footer'. This is another feature we can set so that there are no links on this coming soon page to your website under construction.
Let's x out of this pages dropdown to start creating our coming soon landing page in Wix. The first thing we'll do is add a strip to serve as a starting point for this under construction page. To do so, click on 'add' from the left-hand side panel, 'strip', and select a strip of your choice from this 'about' section.
Let's now customize this strip to make it look like a coming soon page. To change the strip's background image, click on it, and then on 'change strip background' from its individual toolbar.
Under the 'strip background' popup that appears, click on 'image', and either upload an image from your device, select an image you already added to your Wix website from your library, or click on 'media from Wix', 'Shutterstock' or 'Unsplash' from the left-hand side panel to choose an image you can add to your coming soon landing page background. Once you've located an image which you like, click on it, and then on 'change background' at the bottom.
Now let's customize these pieces of text to transform this page into an under construction page. Replace this 'about us' piece of text with 'our website is on its way' and the 'I'm a paragraph' piece of text with 'sign up to be the first to know when we launch'. Feel free to change the text's font, font size, and appearance from the 'text settings' popup.
Instead of having a 'read more' button at the bottom of this coming soon landing page, include an email opt in form instead where your site's visitors can sign up to be the first to know when your website launches.
You can either embed a signup form directly from your email marketing platform or even from Wix on this coming soon page. For more details on how to do that, make sure to watch my videos on 'how to easily integrate Mailchimp with Wix', 'how to integrate Wix with ConvertKit', 'how to add an email opt in form in Wix', or on 'how to add HTML code to Wix' if you're using another email marketing platform that you wish to add to your coming soon page, such as Mailerlite or Constant Contact. I'll leave the links to them in the description box below.
Once you've added your email opt in form to this under construction page in Wix, all that's left to do is add your social media handles to the bottom of this page. To do so, click on 'add' from the left-hand side panel, 'social', and then select a social bar of your choice. Drag-and-drop it so that it's below the email opt in form.
To make these social icons direct to your social media handles, click on 'set social links' from the social bar's individual toolbar, and then click on each of the social media handles, and paste your link in this section where it says 'what social page does this icon link to'.
If your business doesn't have one of these social media platforms, just place your cursor over that handle, and then click on the trash can to remove it. If you're using a different social media handle that's not in the social bar, click on the '+ add icons' button up top, and then choose or upload an icon for your social media channel. Once you're done making changes, click on 'done'.
Now if we click on 'preview' up top, you can see your Wix coming soon landing page in action. If you're happy with how the coming soon landing page you just created in Wix looks like, click on 'publish' on the top, right-hand side to make your changes active.
