Have you ever wondered how to create a free landing page even if you're not tech-savvy? That's exactly what I'm going to show you in this landing page design tutorial. Hi, I’m Marina, and my goal is to help you say "Yes To Tech" by sharing simple tutorials for non-techie entrepreneurs.
We'll be using Wix to create a free landing page, so if you don't have a Wix account yet, make sure to click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. Once you've logged in to your Wix account, and accessed your Wix website editor, click on menus and pages from the left-hand side panel, and then on 'add page'.
Click on 'landing page'. I'll show how to create three types of free landing pages using Wix: a lead collection landing page, a coming soon landing page and a website down for maintenance landing page.
To create a lead collection landing page for free, hover your mouse over the lead collection template, and then click on 'add page'. Rename the page in your site menu, such as to 'lead collection landing page', and then click on 'done'.
X out of the site pages menu to start customizing your lead collection landing page. You can click on any of the existing elements on the page, such as the text, column, image, form, and social bar, and then on the options that appear in their individual toolbars to customize them.
For instance, you can click on a text box, and then on edit text to re-write what you want it to say, as well as change the text's settings from the popup that appears. You can also get text ideas and add an animation to your text.
You can click on either one of the columns to manage them, change their background, add a background scroll effect, and manage its layout. You can click on the image to change it, access its settings, change its design, crop it, add a filter to it, add an animation to it, as well as add a link to it.
When you click on the Wix form, you can edit the form settings, add a new field, add elements, change its layout and design, and add an animation to it. If you wish to embed an opt in form from your third-party email marketing platform, such as from Mailchimp or ConvertKit, rather than use Wix forms to collect email subscribers, delete the Wix form, click on 'add' from the left-hand side panel, 'embed', 'custom embeds', and then click on the 'embed a widget option'.
Click on 'enter code' from its individual toolbar, paste the code from your email marketing platform in the space provided, and then click on 'update'. Make sure to resize the HTML box so that your entire opt in form appears, and then drag-and-drop it to the location of your choice.
You can also click on the social bar to set the social links, change its layout and add an animation to it. Once you're done creating your free landing page for lead collection, click on 'save' and then on 'publish' on the top, right-hand side to make your changes active.
Now let's click on 'menus and pages' from the left-hand side panel again, on 'add page', and then on 'landing page', for me to show you how to create a coming soon landing page for free. Select one of the coming soon landing page templates that you wish to customize, hover your mouse over it, and then click on 'add page'.
Rename the page in your site menu, such as to 'coming soon landing page', and then click on 'done'. X out of the site pages menu to start customizing your coming soon landing page.
Just as before, you can click on any of the existing elements on the page, such as the strip, text, form, and social bar, and then on the options that appear in their individual toolbars to customize them. When you click on the strip, you can change the strip background, add background scroll effects, edit its layout, and make it stretch or not.
You can click on a text box, and then on edit text to re-write what you want it to say, as well as change the text's settings from the popup that appears. You can also get text ideas and add an animation to your text.
When you click on the get subscriber's form, you can edit the form settings, add a new field, add elements, change its layout and design, and add an animation to it. If you wish, you can follow the steps we covered earlier to add a third-party email marketing opt-in form to your coming soon free landing page instead.
You can also click on the social bar to set the social links, change its layout and add an animation to it. Once you're done creating your coming soon landing page for free, click on 'save' and then on 'publish' on the top, right-hand side to make your changes active.
Lastly, let's click on 'menus and pages' from the left-hand side panel again, on 'add page', and then on 'landing page', for me to show you how to create a website under maintenance free landing page. Hover your mouse over the 'down for maintenance' landing page, and then click on 'add page'.
Rename the page in your site menu, such as to 'website under maintenance landing page', and then click on 'done'. X out of the site pages menu to start customizing your down for maintenance landing page.
Just as before, you can click on any of the existing elements on the page, such as the strip, columns, text, form, social bar, and image, and then on the options that appear in their individual toolbars to customize them.
