Wondering how to find templates in Canva? In this Canva tutorial for beginners, you'll learn Canva tips and tricks on how to use Canva templates, including Canva share as template and how to sell Canva templates. So let's get right into this Canva template video on how to use Canva keywords to find hidden elements in Canva.

1. How To Find Templates In Canva

First off, if you don’t have a Canva account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. There are a number of places where you can find templates in Canva. The first place is directly on Canva's homepage.

Right below where it says 'what will you design?', you can click on the search bar, and then on 'templates', to search for a specific Canva design you want to create, such as Instagram post. Canva will not only provide you with other suggested search terms for that template, such as animated Instagram post template, valentine's day Instagram post template and carousel Instagram post template, but also show you the templates that they have for the term you searched (Instagram post and Instagram post portrait), and a number of suggested templates in Canva.

If you click on the Instagram post template for instance, you'll be able to scroll through a number of Instagram post templates in Canva. If you hover your mouse over any of these templates, you can click on the star icon to favorite it, or on the three little dots to customize this template or preview this template.

On the left-hand side, you can set filters to locate the template in Canva you want to use easily. These include filters for style, theme and color.

If you head back to Canva's homepage by clicking on 'home' from the panel up top, there's another place where you can find templates in Canva. Right below the search box, there are a number of suggested Canva design types.

These include for you, presentations, social media, video, print product, marketing, office and more. If you hover your mouse over the infographic design in the more section, for instance, you can click on the magnifying glass icon to browse templates for infographics. You can even click on the infographic itself to open up the Canva editor.

From the Canva design editor, you can click on 'templates' from the left-hand side panel to scroll through a number of Canva templates that you can add to this design. You can use the search bar up top to search for specific infographic templates, as well as the filter icon on the right-hand side of the search bar to sort the templates in Canva by color and language.

You are not limited to adding just one template per Canva design. If you click on 'add page' on the top, right-hand side of the design, you can then head back to the templates tab from the left-hand side panel to add a different Canva template to this second page.

Let's click on 'home' on the top, left-hand side so that I can show you the last place where you can find templates in Canva. Canva actually has a templates tab up top where you can easily find templates in Canva to use.

These include social media Canva templates (Instagram stories, Instagram posts, Facebook posts, Facebook covers, YouTube channel art and LinkedIn banners), personal Canva templates (invitations, cards, resumes, postcards, weekly schedule planners and T-shirts), business Canva templates (presentations, websites, logos, business cards, invoice and business letterheads), marketing Canva templates (posters, flyers, infographics, brochures, newsletters and proposals), education Canva templates (classroom kits, lesson plans, worksheets, certificates, bookmarks and class schedules), as well as trending Canva templates (Canvas prints, videos, YouTube intros, photo books, menus and itinerary planners).

Just as before, to customize any of these templates in Canva, select the Canva design you wish to edit, such as 'worksheets'. Canva will show you more information about that Canva template, you'll be able to filter through these Canva templates by color and type, as well as click to customize a blank template within that category you chose, or select a pre-made Canva template within that category to customize.

2. How To Make Canva Templates

To transform any Canva design into a Canva template, such as these Pinterest templates I created, to make creating new Canva designs that fit in with your brand a breeze, after you've logged in to your Canva account, either open up an existing Canva design you want to transform into a Canva template, or create a new Canva design from scratch to then transform it into a template.

To open up an existing document in Canva, click on 'your projects' from the left-hand side panel, on 'designs' up top, and then locate the design you want to transform into a Canva template. For guidance on how to create a new Canva design from scratch, make sure to check out my Canva tutorials playlist, which is full of step-by-step Canva tutorials.

I'm going to open up this existing Canva design to show you how fast and easy it is to transform it into a template. Just like with any regular Canva design, you can click on any existing element to change it from the white panel up top, or click on the options from the left-hand side panel to add a new element, upload, photo, text, and more to your template design in Canva.

For an entire walkthrough of all of the available elements in Canva that you can add to your Canva templates, make sure to watch my video on ‘How To Use Canva’. I’ll leave the link to it in the description box below.

For this specific Canva template, I'll change where it says 'how to make Canva templates' to 'video title goes here', delete the image, click on 'elements' from the left-hand side panel, locate the 'grids' section, click on a square grid, and resize and reposition it so that it fits within the computer screen.

Once you're done customizing what will become your Canva template, rename your Canva design up top, such as to 'Canva Template For Square Posts', and instead of clicking on the download button like we normally do, click on the three little dots on the top, right-hand side.

Locate this 'share' section, click on 'see all', and then select 'template'. Add this Canva template to an existing folder, or create a new folder to house this Canva template if you wish. I'll select my existing Instagram folder, and then click on 'add' at the bottom.

Once you're ready to publish your Canva design as a template for either you or your team to use, click on 'publish template'. When your Canva design has been saved as a template, it becomes super fast for you to customize this Canva template to create new Canva designs that seamlessly fit in with your brand.

Let's x out of this popup, and click on 'home' on the top, left-hand side to return to our Canva homepage so that I can show you how to do that. Before I show you how to customize Canva templates, let me ask you this, how long are you currently spending creating new Canva templates for your business? What if you could save 90% of the time you're currently spending on designing new graphics and create all the graphics you need for your online business in just a few clicks?

That's exactly what you can do with the Online Business Templates Vault. You'll get everything you need to create clickable and eye-catching graphics, worksheets and social media designs so that you can customize all your online business designs in just a few clicks so that they fit in with your brand - even if you're not design-savvy.

I'll leave the link to the Online Business Templates Vault in the description box below. Now let's head back to Canva for me to show you how to easily edit Canva templates. In your Canva homepage, click on 'your projects' from the left-hand side panel, and then on the 'folders' tab up top. Click on the Canva folder where you just saved the Canva template you created, in my case, Instagram.

Click on the Canva template you created. If you wish to use and customize this Canva template, click on 'use this template', which is what I'm going to do. This will transform your Canva template into a new design, without altering the original Canva template.

As you can see from the Canva design's name up top, it's now 'copy of Canva Template For Square Posts'. Feel free to rename your Canva design, and to make any edits to it. For instance, I'll change where it says 'video title goes here' to 'how to find templates in Canva', click on 'uploads' from the left-hand side panel, locate this very video's thumbnail, and then drag-and-drop it into the grid within the computer screen.

Just like with any regular Canva design, once you're done making edits to it, click on the 'download' button on the top, right-hand side. Select your file type, I'll select GIF since there's an animation in this design, and then click on 'download' to save the design you created from a Canva template to your computer.

If you wish to edit the original Canva template you created, so that all of your future Canva designs look like the new Canva template rather than like the old Canva template, click on 'edit original' instead of 'use this template'. This will maintain the Canva design you created as a template, but anything that you add or remove will change the overall Canva template design.

3. How to Share Canva Templates As Digital Products To Sell Online

Now that you know how to find templates in Canva and how to make Canva templates, you can share the Canva templates you create as digital products to sell online. Once in your Canva account, click on 'your projects' from the left-hand side panel, and then on 'folders' from the tab up top.

Locate the folder where you saved the Canva template you want to sell online as a digital product, in my case, I'll click on 'Pinterest templates', and then click on the Canva template itself you want to sell. Rather than clicking on 'use this template' or on 'edit original' like we did before, locate this 'share' template section, and then click on 'copy.

You can now either place this link directly in the platform you use to sell digital products online, in my case, Teachable, which you can try out for free by clicking on the link in the description box below, or create a new Canva design to add this Canva template link, as well as to add links to any other Canva templates you wish to share as a digital product.

Let me show you how to do both. We already have the link which you can share directly, so let me show you how to create a file to house all of your Canva template links to share as a digital product to sell online.

After you've copied this share template link, x out of this template, click on 'home' from the left-hand side panel, on 'office' and then on 'A4 document'. Feel free to click on 'templates' from the left-hand side panel, and then select a Canva template to customize.

Now click on 'text' from the left-hand side panel, and then on 'add a heading'. Type in something so that your students know that they should click to customize this Canva template, such as 'click here to use this Canva template'.

Select the text, click on the three little dots from the white panel up top, and then on the link icon. Paste the link to your Canva template in the space provided, and then press enter. Repeat this same process until you've added all of the Canva template links to this digital product that you wish to sell online.

Once you've done that, rename your Canva design up top, such as to Canva template digital product, and then click on the download button. Under the 'file type' dropdown, select either PDF standard, which is a small file size, multi-page document or PDF print, which is a high-quality, multi-page document.

In my case, I'll select PDF print as the file type. If you wish, click on the box to crop marks and bleed, and then click on the 'download' button at the bottom to save your digital product to your computer.

Now log in to your Teachable account, click on 'courses' from the left-hand side panel, and either create a new course to house your digital product to sell online, or click on an existing course, such as the Online Business Templates Vault I mentioned earlier. Click on 'curriculum' from the left-hand side panel, and then on 'add a new lecture'.

For more details on how to use Teachable to sell digital products, make sure to watch my video on 'how to create an online course with Teachable'. I'll leave the link to it in the description box below.

Once you've added a new lecture, click on the pencil icon next to it to rename it, such as to 'Canva template' and then click on it to open it up. To share the direct link to the Canva template you created, click on 'add text' from the left-hand side panel, and type in something so that your students know that this is a customizable Canva template, such as 'click here to use this Canva template'.

Now select the text you just entered, click on the link icon, paste the Canva template link in the space provided, and then click on 'save'. Make sure to click on 'add text' at the bottom to save it.

To share the link to the digital product document you created in Canva, click on 'add file' from the left-hand side panel, either drop the file in the space provided, or click to locate and open it from your device, and then click on 'upload'.

If you want your students to be able to download this digital product you'll be selling online, click on 'enable download'. Now if someone opens up this link directly or opens up the digital product document and then clicks on one of the Canva template links, a page will open up saying 'a template created by Marina Lotaif was shared with you, start designing now'.

All they have to do is click on 'use template' at the bottom to start customizing it. If everything looks the way you wish, back in Teachable, remember to click on 'publish' up top to make your changes active.
