Canva Animation Tutorial: Canva Text Animation, Canva Presentation Animation + Canva Video Animation

Looking for a Canva animation tutorial? In this Canva tutorial for beginners, you'll learn how to use Canva to create a Canva text animation, Canva presentation animation and Canva video animation. So let's get right into these Canva tips and tricks and Canva hacks on how to create an animation in Canva.

First off, if you don’t have a Canva account yet, just click on the link in the description box below to sign up for free. To add an animation in Canva, be it a Canva text animation, Canva presentation animation, or Canva video animation, you'll first have to select one of your existing Canva designs you wish to add a Canva animation to, or add animations in Canva to a new Canva design by either searching for the design type of your choice using the search bar up top, or using the Canva design suggestions by clicking on the options under where it says 'what will you design'.

I'll be using a different design each time to show you how to add a Canva text animation, Canva presentation animation, and Canva video animation. To show you how to add a Canva text animation, I'll be using the design we created in my previous video on 'Canva text effects: how to add a drop shadow in Canva'. If you haven't watched that yet, I'll leave the link to it in the description box below.

To open that design up, in your Canva home page, scroll down until you reach the 'recent designs' section, and then click on the Canva text effects design. To add a Canva animation just to the text, and not to the design at large, click on the text box, and then on 'animate' from the white panel up top.

To add a Canva text animation, make sure that 'text animations' is selected up top, rather than 'page animations'. There are a number of Canva text animations that you can choose from, including basic (rise, pan, fade, breathe, tectonic and drift), simple writing (typewriter, ascend and shift), bold writing (block, burst, bounce, roll and skate), scale (breathe, pop and stomp), exaggerate (tumble, neon, scrapbook, pop and stomp), as well as slide in and out (ascend, shift, rise, pan, drift, tectonic and baseline).

You may have noticed while I was going through the Canva text animations that there are a few of them that have a crown icon on the bottom, right-hand side. These Canva animations are exclusive for Canva Pro users, which you can try out for free by clicking on the link in the description box below.

Once you have chosen a Canva text animation that you wish to add to your Canva design, click on it. If you take a look at where it said 'animate' on the white panel up top, it'll now show the name of the Canva text animation that you added, in my case, 'typewriter'.

If you no longer wish to add a Canva text animation to your Canva design, click on 'remove animation' at the bottom. Under the same 'animate' popup, you can click on 'page animations' up top to add an animation to your Canva design at large, while still maintaining the Canva text animation that you added.

To do so, locate the 'combinations' section, and add a Canva animation from there, including simple, fun or smooth. If your Canva design has more than one page, you can click on 'apply to all pages' at the bottom to add the Canva animation to all the pages in your Canva design, or just leave it as is to add the Canva animation just to the page you're currently on.

Once you're done adding a Canva text animation, rename your Canva design up top, and then click on the download button. Make sure that you save your design as a file type that allows for animations, so either MP4 video or GIF, I'll select MP4 video, and then click on the download button to save your design with a Canva text animation to your computer.

Let's now click on 'home' on the top, left-hand side to head back to our Canva home page so that I can show you how to add a Canva presentation animation. This time, click on the search bar up top, and search for 'presentation'. Once that option populates, click on it.

There are a number of presentation templates that you can choose from to then add a Canva animation to, or you can click on 'create a blank presentation' up top to start your design from scratch. You can even filter the presentation templates by style, theme and color.

Once you've located a presentation template in Canva that you wish to customize, such as this 'Yellow Minimal Digital Influencer Media Kit Presentation', click on it to edit it. Just like with any Canva template, you can click on any of the existing elements on your presentation design, and then on the options that appear on the panel up top to edit them.

Feel free to change any other element on this presentation, and to add any additional elements, uploads, photos, text, and more to your presentation in Canva. For an entire walkthrough of all of the available elements in Canva that you can add to your presentation design, make sure to watch my video on ‘How To Use Canva’. I’ll leave the link to it in the description box below.
