In this Wix website tutorial, I’m going to show you how to create a website with Wix. If you don’t have a Wix account yet, click here to create one right away for free. Also, to take what you learn today a step further, make sure to enroll in Wonder Website, my online course that’ll teach you how to create a kickass website that gets you more email subscribers, converts like crazy, and gives you the freedom you deserve.
Alright, so to create a website with Wix, just click here to create a new Wix account for free. Once in your dashboard, click on ‘+ create new site’ on the top right. When prompted with ‘what kind of website do you want to create?’, click on your specific niche, or if you don’t fit in on any of the available categories, click on ‘other’. In my case, I’ll choose ‘blog’.
Now when asked to choose ‘how you want to create your website?’, click on ‘choose a template’ under ‘create your website with the Wix editor’ to create and customize your Wix website yourself. If you’re in a time pinch, however, it’s best to click on ‘start now’ from ‘let Wix ADI create a website for you’, and let artificial intelligence create a website for you instead. Since I want to start off with a template and make it my own, I’ll go ahead and click on ‘choose a template’.
Wix will automatically lead you to the templates that are best equipped for the kind of website you want to create. Remember how I chose ‘blog’ when prompted to choose ‘how you want to create your website?’. That’s how I landed on this ‘pick the blogs & forums website template that you love’ section, though you can choose a template from any of these categories on the left (there are literally hundreds of templates that you can choose from). You can also choose a template by sorting them by ‘new’, ‘most popular’ and ‘blank’ templates.
When you place your cursor on top of any given template, you can either click through to edit it directly, or click to view its features. You can also see its price in the top, left-hand corner. Some of them are free, and some of them are only available to those using a paid Wix account. If you choose one that is for paid accounts only, you can edit it now and upgrade to a paid account later. One thing that is worth mentioning is that once you choose a template, you can’t change it later, so put in a bit of thought before settling on a template.
Once you have decided which template to use for your Wix website, go ahead and click on ‘edit’ within it. This will redirect you to the Wix editor. All of the elements on this page are 100% customizable simply by clicking on them. You can delete the element for instance, or edit it from its individual toolbar. For instance, to change this background image, I’ll click on it, then on ‘change strip background’, ‘image’, and select another one either from my files, from Wix, or from Shutterstock.
When you enroll in Wonder Website, you’ll learn step-by-step how to create a kickass website that gets you more email subscribers, converts like crazy, and gives you the freedom you deserve. Okay, so from the left-hand side panel, you can edit your site menu and page transitions, change your page background, add a new element by dragging and dropping it on your page, such as text, image, gallery, vector art, shape, interactive, button, box, strip, lists & grids, video, music, social, contact, menu, lightbox, database, blog, store, bookings, members, and more, add an app from the Wix app market, add media to your site, and access the blog manager.
