Online Coaching Business Model: How To Start A Coaching Business Online - EASY Teachable Tutorial

We’ll be using Teachable to set up your coaching business.
If you already have a Teachable account, head over to Teachable and click on Creator Login. If you don’t have a Teachable account yet, you can either start for free or click on the link in the description box below to take 10% off Teachable Pro.
I'm going to go ahead and log in to my Teachable account to show you how to set up coaching. Once logged in, head over to these options on the left-hand side panel and click on Coaching.
Coaching on Teachable lets you work with clients one-on-one by defining milestones to track and measure coaching progress, keep notes, and send messages between coach and client—all in one place.
Let’s go ahead and click on Create Coaching to get started.
The first step is to name your offering. How would you briefly describe your coaching offering? Give it a name, such as One-on-One Coaching with Marina. Once you’re done entering a coaching product name, click on Continue at the bottom.
Now set up how you will receive clients. Because coaching sessions are live, you'll need to decide the intake process for customers interested in the service. You can either select:
No intake form, where new clients go directly to checkout to be enrolled in your coaching service;
Intake form, where new clients will first fill out an intake form and then go to checkout to be enrolled in your coaching service; or
Intake form with approval, where new clients will first complete an intake form and wait for your approval before they can proceed to checkout.
I’ll select No intake form, and then click on Continue at the bottom.
This next step is where you can set a price. You can always change your coaching pricing later. This involves either:
A one-time purchase, where your customer pays once;
A payment plan, where you set a fixed number of monthly payments;
A subscription, where you set up recurring payments;
Free, where you allow access to your content free of charge; or
I don’t know yet, where you can skip this step for now and add it later.
I’ll select Subscription, and then click on Continue at the bottom.
From here, you're able to add all of the subscription pricing details. Students will have access to your product as long as they continue to pay their fee. First, select the price, both in terms of currency and amount. Let’s say I’ll set it as $199.
Frequency: You can select every week, every two weeks, every month, every 3 months, every 6 months, or even every year. I’ll select every month.
Now add a pricing plan name, such as “Coaching.” If you wish, you can also add:
A pricing plan subtitle (an optional tagline to describe your pricing plan);
A description where you describe to your customers what they should know about this price.
If you wish, you can also limit enrollment by cap or expiration date and time, where you can select:
The number of enrollments available;
Expiration date;
Expiration time;
Whether you wish to display enrollment cap on the sales page and at checkout.
You can also select whether you want to include a free trial, including the length of trial in days. Students will be charged the regular subscription price the day after the trial ends.
If you wish to increase conversions by 30%, you can also set up Buy Now, Pay Later. On a one-time purchase, students can split their purchases into installments. This way, you can convert more students by providing more payment flexibility while you receive the full purchase amount up front. To turn that on, just toggle it on over here.
Once you set up your payment details, click on Continue at the bottom.
Now set a start date. This is the date on which your client can first access the coaching space. You can either select:
On the enrollment date, which is useful when client enrollment is ongoing; or
On a fixed date, which is useful for recurring group classes and enrollment periods with firm start dates.
If you select the second option, you can also go ahead and add a specific date. I’ll select On the enrollment date, and then click on Continue at the bottom.
This last step is where you can customize your first milestone. The first milestone is often used to welcome the clients and prepare them for the coaching session. From here, you can add a title as well as a description.
Once you’re done filling out these first milestone details, click on Finish at the bottom.
As you can see, One-on-One Coaching with Marina has now been created.
Now let’s get started by customizing our coaching product, building out a sales page, managing our clients, and more. Let’s do that by clicking on Continue.
From here, you're able to add the basics by editing your coaching service details and adding a thumbnail if you wish. You can:
Edit the name you already added to something else;
Add a thumbnail;
Choose an author for your coaching service;
Add a Calendly personal access token, which will allow you to view your appointments from within Teachable;
Hide or show your published coaching service on the product catalog of your school site;
Or even delete your coaching content, including student enrollment records.
If you click on Pages from the left-hand side panel, you can then click to edit:
The Sales Page,
Post Intake Page,
Checkout Page,
As well as the Thank You Page.
Under Template, you can:
Change the first milestone date from the option you chose to either “On the enrollment date” or “On a fixed date”;
As well as edit the first milestone details.
Under Pricing, you can:
Edit the existing pricing that you added;
Archive the pricing;
Or add a new pricing plan.
Under Upsell Funnel, you're able to earn more revenue and increase students’ lifetime value by adding an upsell or order bump in your shopping and learning flows. This includes:
A Checkout Order Bump,
A Post-Purchase Offer,
As well as a Thank You Page Upsell.
To customize each one of those, just click on:
Create Order Bumps,
Create Post-Purchase Upsell, or
Create Thank You Page Upsell on the right.
Under Coupons, you're able to add a new coupon to lift sales and open up your products to more customers. This coupon can either be multiple use or bulk single use.
Under Clients, you're able to view prospective clients as well as your clients list.
