ConvertKit Forms: How To Create A Form In ConvertKit Step-By-Step

To create a form in ConvertKit, log into your ConvertKit account. Click on "Grow" from the panel up top, and then on "Landing Pages and Forms". Then, click on the "Create New" button at the bottom. Since you want to create a ConvertKit form, click on "Form" under where you want to gather your subscribers.

Next, choose the display format of this form - either inline, modal, slide-in, or sticky bar. I'll select "Inline". From there, you can choose the template to add to your ConvertKit form. Run through the numerous options that ConvertKit offers. Once you've located a template you want to add to your ConvertKit form, click on "Choose" up top. You can click on the pencil icon to change the name of the form so that it describes what your form is actually about.

Then, you can click on any of the elements within this ConvertKit form template to customize its style. For instance, you can click on the background image and then on either "Edit" or "Replace" to upload a new image or add one from Unsplash, or even one from your Instagram profile.

You can also change the form background color, border radius, and add custom CSS. When you click on the text, you can customize the font's color, font size, font weight, as well as click and edit what the text says.

When you click on "Email Address", you can change the field styles, including the label. Toggle whether that label is required or not. Change the font color, border color, and font weight. If you click on the plus icon below where it says "Email Address", you can add another custom field.

From here, you can save that custom field either as an actual field or as a tag. Select what that custom field is, such as "First Name". Edit the custom field label, toggle whether that label is required or not, and change its font color, border color, and font weight. You can also click on the three little lines next to these fields to reorder them.

At the bottom, you can click on the "Send Me the Guide" button to change the button styles, including its font color, background color, border radius, and font weight. Just like with a header, you can double click on the text and then write something new. You can also click to edit the disclaimer styles, including the font color and font size, and just as before, change what that says.

Once we click next to the disclaimer styles, a plus icon will appear. You can click on it to insert a new file, change to a heading 2, heading 3, numbered list, ordered list, block quote, or insert an image, button, divider, countdown timer, video, or product.

Once you're done customizing your ConvertKit form, you can click on "Preview" to view how your ConvertKit form will look in action. Now, if you click on "Exit the Preview", we can then click on "Settings" to customize the ConvertKit form settings.

Under "General", you can select what happens when a visitor subscribes to the form. You can either show a success message or redirect to an external page. Under "Domain Name", you can select the custom domain as well as the page URL for this ConvertKit form.

Under "Incentive", you can select whether you wish to send an incentive email after someone signs up for your ConvertKit form, as well as edit the email contents. Feel free to customize the email to look and say what you wish. You can also select to confirm new subscribers and choose what happens after your email subscribers confirm. They can either be redirected to another URL or receive a download.

Under "Advanced", you can change what's shown to return visitors who have already subscribed to this ConvertKit form. You can either continue to show the form, hide the form, or show custom content and then customize what the content says if you wish. You can also send subscriber data to the thank you page and select an invisible reCAPTCHA.

Once you're done customizing your ConvertKit form settings, click on "Save" at the bottom. Once you're done creating and customizing your ConvertKit form, make sure to click on "Publish" on the top right to make your ConvertKit form active. Then, embed this form where you wish using either JavaScript, HTML, the share option, embedding it onto your WordPress website, or even on Unbounce.
