Now that you’ve created a freebie that will entice your site’s visitors to opt-in to your e-mail list, it’s time to create a form in ConvertKit. With ConvertKit, you can set up a system so that your freebie is delivered instantaneously to your subscribers once they opt-in to your e-mail list, without any additional work on your end

Let’s not waste any time, and get right into how to create a form and deliver a freebie with ConvertKit!

If you don’t have a ConvertKit account yet, click here to create one.

ConvertKit is my platform of choice since it is great at automating the whole e-mail marketing process. With ConvertKit, you are able to send targeted content to your e-mail subscribers with simple, but powerful automations, build and edit e-mail sequences, and design customizable opt-in forms that fit right in with your brand. Today we will be focusing on the latter, so keep reading for a step-by-step guide on how to create a form and deliver a freebie with ConvertKit.

  1. Login to your ConvertKit account.

  2. Once you’re in your dashboard, click on ‘+ Create Form’.

  3. You will be prompted with two options on how to gather subscribers: Landing Page and Form. Click on ‘Form’.

  4. As for your form’s style, which is the next question that pops up, click on the option on the right, the naked style. This is the one I use most often because it blends right in with my website’s look and feel.

  5. You can edit the form’s text by clicking directly on the text and changing it, and you can customize the text, accent and button colors by clicking on the magic wand next to the save button.

  6. Remember to click ‘Save’ once you have finished making your edits.

  7. To edit the form’s content and add your freebie, click on the ‘Settings’ tab up top.

  8. Within the ‘Main Settings’, change the name of the form so that it describes what your form is about. If you wish, you can edit and personalize the success message. I usually leave it as is. Click ‘Save Form’ at the bottom.

  9. Click on ‘Incentive E-mail’ on the left. This is where you can customize the confirmation e-mail and add the freebie your subscribers will receive once they opt-in to your e-mail list.

  10. Make sure that ‘Send incentive / double opt-in email to confirm new subscribers’ is ticked. It probably will be, since that is the default option.

  11. Customize the e-mail’s subject line, message, and the button’s text to match with the freebie you are sending.

  12. Closer to the bottom, where it says ‘Thank you page’, click on ‘Incentive download’. This way, after your subscriber clicks on the button and confirms their subscription, they will automatically receive your freebie.

  13. Click on ‘Upload a file’, and select the freebie you created, be it a worksheet, checklist, cheat sheet, or something else, from your computer. Click on ‘Save Form’.

  14. Click on ‘Embed’ on the left-hand side, select ‘RAW HTML’, and copy and paste the code that appears in a word document or Google Doc so you have it on file.

Now you know how to create a form and deliver a freebie with ConvertKit. Stay tuned for next week’s blog post, which is going to teach you step-by-step how to create a landing page to promote your freebie.
