Alright, let’s start with the good stuff.


Patreon can give you something every creator dreams about: recurring income.

Not one-time sales. Not chasing brand deals. But fans supporting you month after month.


Picture this: 50 people supporting you at just $5 a month. That’s $250, every month, like clockwork.

And that’s only 50 people — not thousands.


Other perks?


You build a closer connection with your superfans.


You can offer exclusive perks — behind-the-scenes, early access, private community.


And, most importantly, it’s income you own — not controlled by YouTube ads or social algorithms.


So yeah, there’s a lot to love.


The Downsides


But… let’s get real for a second.


Patreon isn’t all sunshine and rainbows.

Here are the cons most people don’t talk about:


It takes work to create rewards every month.


If your audience is small, growth can feel slow.


And yes… there are fees. Patreon takes a cut.


The biggest issue? Expectations.

If the answer is no? That’s okay. It just means Patreon might be something you revisit later, once your audience is more engaged.

If you can write down at least three perks you’d love to give your fans — things they’d be excited about — then you’re ready to try Patreon.


If you’re struggling to think of even one? Hit pause. Focus on growing your audience first.

👉 Yes — if you’ve got fans who are hungry for more.

👉 Maybe not yet — if you’re still building momentum.
